TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 in California as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 110 languages.
Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
In a TED conference, successful individuals and world’s leading thinkers and doers in different fields of art, science, business, etc. are being invited to introduce their best and most powerful lecture about their experience and their way to success in 18 minutes or less.
TED speaker have included Bill Gates, James Cameron, Stephen Hawking, Toni Robbins, Gordon Brown and Mark Ronson.
TEDx are independent but TED-like events aiming to develop and extend worthy ideas of individuals in different regions. These events are being held independently by diverse persons all around the world that were qualified by TED organization.
Our event is TEDx MollaSadraSt that x represents an independent event and Mollasadra is the name of was an Iranian Shia Islamic philosopher, theologian and erudite who led the Iranian cultural renaissance in the 17th century and he was born in Shiraz. As it is not allowed to use the name of famous people as the name of a TEDx event, we denominated the event as TEDxMollaSadraSt that stands for MollaSadra Street that is one of the most famous and populated streets in Shiraz and is in the central hub of the city.
In TEDxMollaSadraSt, live lectures along with showing TED videos, helps audiences to exchange new and worthy ideas together in a creative and fresh atmosphere. Moreover, rules and instructions for holding TEDxMollaSadraSt are defined by TED organization but TEDxMollaSadraSt’s executive committee is responsible for holding the event.
